Sadie Pires is currently studying at Sacred Heart University, Class of 2027 in Media Arts Major, Theatre Arts Program and is taking part in their study abroad programme.
If you were to ask me when I first arrived at Sacred Heart University if I would take advantage of the study abroad program in Dingle, Ireland, and move away from home for 3½ months, I would have easily said no. I would have thought about all the homesickness, the nerves, the fear of leaving for a new country, and let all that take over. Despite this, I took the risk and have now been able to call Dingle my home away from home. Studying abroad in Dingle and the experiences I have learned from the program Sacred Heart University offers, is one I was skeptical about at first, but am forever grateful for jumping into. Being here has taught me so much about the way of life not only in Ireland, but in this town, and has immersed me in the incredible Irish culture. Along with this, I am currently interning with Base Dingle, Dingle Benners Hotel and the Dingle Skellig Hotel as their media content creator. This has given me the incredible opportunity to be immersed in both the local culture and the behind-the-scenes of the hotel industry. This internship has given me the opportunity to work, learn, and grow alongside amazing people and I am really enjoying being mentored by Miriam Ferriter, their sales and marketing manager. For anyone considering studying here or visiting this unique part of the world, I can confidently say that choosing the right Dingle accommodation can make all the difference in your experience.

Being able to live and work in these environments and with the best people, has given me a taste of the Irish culture and made my stay so special.
So far, living in Dingle, I have had the chance to get a taste of daily life in this picturesque town. The environment is truly something I have never experienced, from the lively and vibrant pubs to the great dining atmosphere and food, Dingle is a town that has captured my heart. My study abroad experience here has been about living within this small, tight-knit community, where I have learned the importance of the Irish culture and grown not only as a student but as a person.
