This Spring just gone, each Tuesday at 6pm, the Irish language took centre stage, not in a stiff classroom setting, but in an atmosphere buzzing with craic, curiosity, and connection.
Each week the event, hosted by Dúchas an Daingin, offered sessions built to break down the fear and build up confidence, especially for those using Irish in customer service roles.
Tapping back into the Gaeltacht identity that gives Dingle its heart and soul, participants found themselves part of something bigger: a community proud of its past and bold about its future.
We were also delighted to welcome Órla, from Foras na Gaeilge, to showcase our use of the Irish language in all of our signage internally and our meaningful use of the language.
So here’s to the power of a ‘Dia dhuit’, the warmth of a ‘Go raibh míle maith agat’, and the shared pride that comes from keeping a language—and a culture alive. Dingle’s Irish voice is loud, proud, and only getting stronger.
Dúchas and Daingin offer a selection of social meet ups and language supports. Visit https://linktr.ee/duchasandaingin for more details.
